In November 2022 and 2023, I went on the Watkinson Dominican Republic Service Trip (DRST), and it was one of the best experiences of my life. I had the opportunity to immerse myself in a different culture, meet new people, and do work that made positive impacts on local communities. Over the course of the week, we held 5 medical clinics and a construction clinic where we provided aid for hundreds of people in need. I learned many valuable lessons, such as the importance of empathy and compassion. The trip also helped me develop skills like adaptability, resilience, and problem-solving. Overall, my experience in the Dominican Republic taught me to be grateful for the many opportunities that life has to offer, but most importantly, it helped solidify my dream to dedicate my life to helping others. It was a transformative experience that I will always cherish and that continues to inspire me to seek out new adventures and make a difference in the world.
